Corvette inspections
I don’t know if this would be possible or not but what about a forum network list of members around the country who would be interested in doing inspections for buyers interested in a car in their area? I’m always looking like a lot of you but I don’t know enough people personally on the forum to ask for help. They wouldn’t have to be an NCRS judge but at least be knowledgeable about Corvettes. I think most people would still go inspect it themselves, but it might save a lot of time and money to have someone make a preliminary assessment of the car. I’ve been on a lot of wild goose chases, so what do you guys think? Dumb idea? Be nice.
if its a low risk inspection of a garden variety car I am sure we could come up with a network. but there is no way I am going to tell anyone I will verify a BB car and such

I agree with the above. I'd be happy to inspect and honestly report on the condition of the car, including getting under it and looking for rust, etc. But I'm not qualified to judge broach marks and the like.

I like the idea. I do agree with the comments and concerns already stated, but its still a good idea. Could a separate volunteer list be created where members submit geography distance they are willing to cover based on where they live, active or inactive status (controlled by the volunteer), model years they feel they can provide some level of knowledge and expertise, contact information, etc. and a "I agree" to conditions and hold harmless blah, blah, blah box to check. Let the volunteer and person requesting the eyeball work out the rest under the umbrella of this agreement. I am sure others have ideas as to what else needs to be stated within the volunteer profile, but you get the idea. I think we should continue to explore the possibilities.
I've done a few but no rare cars... If its close by and I have the time, I'll do a general look-see for no charge... Rust, general condition, mechanicals.
I don't claim to be an expert and YMMV. If you do these and charge a fee and give some appearance of a professional your hanging out there for liability if things go badly after the purchase...IMO...

I am in the same boat. I have a limited knowledge of our passion but am willing to help folks. Having something like proposed could have saved me thousands of miles of looking at junk. At one time in my life (read retired now) it was fun to chase down cars, but now it is more frustrating. I have never charged CF members to make an initial inspection but they know what that there getting for their dollar. Worst experience was driving over 500 miles to look at an ebay 61 or 62 and it's shinny paint was from just washing it. Should have noticed water standing under the car in the pictures. Also, should have been alerted by the way he responded to phone calls for information. I should have learned by my mistakes but not so much.
I would not mind helping someone out, I'm fairly knowledgeable with 63-67. no as some already stated i'm not looking for broach marks and such, but I will give you an honest assessment of the car.
I had two great folks on here help me out as I was 2500 mi away
They eased my mind and when I saw the car when they unloaded the trailer it was just as they explained it to me
Thanks, Charlie572!
