You didn't say what your plan is for the car or which engine you have, but be aware that as reliable as the HEI is, it's not well-suited to a performance application that includes high-rpm operation - HEI's are pretty much all done by 5000 rpm.

I read your post and it got me concerned because I'm building a healthy aluminum headed roller 327. I checked on the internet to see what I could do. There's a super chevy article. The 10 myths about HEI. Seems there's a plethora of after market go fast parts like high output modules and coils that saturate fast enough to fire at high RPM. So I guess I'll be buying more parts
