Default rebuilding/rechroming taillights Q?

hey guys! i am thinking of rechroming my taillight housings instead of buying new? your thoughts there please! also, if i do get them rechromed, who makes the bulb plates? mine were real crapped up, and i dont think i can reuse them. i figured on drilling and tapping the housing and using button head screws to put the plates back in. has anyone ever done that? give me your thoughts here guys! thanks troy

I've seen a few replating jobs where they didn't get the 'deep' section around the bulb right at all. Personally, I'd just go for the Trim Parts repros - they are quite nice and you won't have to wait weeks for the replating to be done...

The lights are made of pot metal...it may crack & you will neeed new sockets. Trim parts , way to go.

I had an attempt made to re-chrome my tail lights. Did not work to my satisfaction. I recommend that you don't waste your $ just to have to buy repros. My $.02 FWIW

You can not beat items made by Trim Parts. I think they are better then NOS. Every C1 I own I replaced the instrument bezels and speedometer bezel with trim, excellent.

. Don’t think you will be sorry. I was looking at the same situation and after much research decided to go the Trim Part route.

I put new trim part tail lights on mine about 5 years ago. You won’t believe the quality, their really nice. I’d go that route.
