I’m thinking about switching to halogen headlights. I’m looking at the ones that fit ‘58 to ‘82’s on the Ecklers website. Has anyone done this? Is it an easy swap, or is there some modifications to make?

should be a slam dunk swap... I would suggest that you add 'relays' to provide more consistent power and less load on the wiring

see Snake Plisken's thread on the upgrade, hopefully you won't have his problems...

Swap in Sylvania H5001 and H5006 units (halogen hi/lo beam) and save some money - available anywhere. They draw about the same current as standard bulbs; if that does NOT satisfy you then you can add relays. Snakeplisken's thread is a wandering novella of how not to add simple relays - avoid it for mental health reasons if nothing else....

Here is a pretty good article from MAD Electric dealing with brighter headlights using halogens and relays.
