Default New dash instrumentation lighting on a C2

I'm getting ready to have a local shop pull my dash in my C2 for a new clock and new fuel gauge. My dash lighting is so dim that I cannot see anything after dark. Almost total darkness. How much trouble is new receptacle wiring for LED installation while this dash is pulled. I'm tired of having a dark dash at night time. Thanks as usual for your help.

No need for new receptacles. Just buy correct led's (bayonet) style and swap them out. I did not do headlight warning, brake light warning, high beam or turn signals. I thought they were plenty bright enough.

OK - first off you can change the clock AND the fuel gauge without removing the cluster - I've done it twice in recent weeks. Second, I was all ready to swap in LED bulbs for the original dash lights (which requires NO wiring changes) but read anther member's post about the LEDs being loose in the stock sockets and causing flickering while driving. I tried a couple of the LEDs in the sockets and wasn't happy with the fit so I dropped this little project.. I bought nice LEDs from superbrightleds too - not cheapies.

You may get different results but thought this info would be useful.

I bought my led's from Super Bright also. No flickering or any other issues. You need 2 different sizes (long and short ones). I don't remember how many of each or the part numbers. Mine came in packs of 10. 2 packs long and 1 pack short is enough with some spares. I think BA9 is the long ones and BA9S is the short ones. You need more than 10 long and less than 5 short. It's been a couple of years since I did mine so double check to be sure.

I painted the inside of my cluster flat white and added LEDS and holy crap it’s way brighter.
