consecutive vin number engine pads
I was lucky enough to find an engine pad picture of the car that was right in front of mine on the production line. Has anyone else tried and succeeded?

That is beyond awesome and a great way to validate a pad

They had one gang stamp to stamp the HP engines and another to stamp the HT engines.
They didn't switch the suffix letters for each different combination each day.
The next day, they made up another "batch" of stamps, for the different engine possibilities.
The only way you could make a valid comparison is if you had the same suffix stamp... from the same day.

After setting up the ORPHAN VIN -stamped parts thread, I found a stamp pad that was 5 numbers off from mine.

I had a 66 Cp 327 350 horse 4 speed mosport green with dark green int. And I had a 66 Cp 427 390 maroon black interior they went down the assembly line right next to each other what are the chances of owning both cars at the same time. I since have sold both cars.

I would say the odds of finding back to back serial numbers is high, and then finding different engine suffixes with the same engine assembly date is extremely high.
I say that because the engines came into the plants on racks – racked by suffix codes. For the operator to pull an engine from an HP rack and then pull the next engine from an HT rack and both have the same assembly date, was probably unusual. Especially the HP engine since AC was a relatively low volume engine.
Fremont had a much higher production rate than St Louis, and even then, low volume engine racks would sit sometimes for days, while the higher volume racks were being forked in and out continuously.
