Default Recommendations Please for So Cal?

Hi,
I need to repaint my 67 (same color). Can anyone recommend a place that will understand the importance of a bringing back my car to its original color? All I really find are the bodyshops that are tied to only doing insurance work or the custom shops that will likely charge an arm and a leg and also try to convince me to paint it some extravagant color. I live in Orange County.

I don't have a recommendation for you, but if you don't get a good answer here, you might contact the folks at Corvette Mike, West Coast Corvette, Coast Corvette or GM Down Under and see if they have a recommendation. I'd bet they could steer you in the right direction.

Thank you all - this is excellent, I will take all the advice I can get. My goal is to repaint my car to it's original Marlboro Maroon Metallic.

I live in San Diego and searched and searched all over Southern Ca. I would recommend you decide what type of paint job want first, Show car or? It does not matter, you just need to decide then find a painter / shop that will do it the way you want. I have a friend that regularly gets Corvettes and Porsches painted for around 5K in San Diego. I wouldn't go near that place that's not what I want. I want a super high quality paint job which looks as good underneath as it does on top and I'm willing to pay for it. That's not for everybody. You get into trouble when you want show quality for 5K, it ain't going to happen. I have not even talked about defining show quality. Number 1 recommendation, get it in writing.

Take a ride over to McJacks, I believe on Harbor Blvd. off the 22. I've seen some of his paint jobs and they look pretty good. Don't know about his pricing. He just works on Corvettes.

Are you looking California or New California?
Sorry, I realize that was not constructive and may cause a hijack. Please no one comment on this. Again, sorry.

Thank you all for the advice - and smacota1 - yeah, you did not even bother to text me - must have been just too darn busy, I guess? . Pics will come soon.

I saw two reply’s for McJacks. I was planning on taking it there. He does awesome work on engines (he did mine), but he is really backlogged right now for painting ... which is why I am asking.

Default Paint

David Schwartz, Euro Body in Tarzana, San Fernando valley, Los Angeles.

His shop has done high end work for Corvette Mike, lots of Top Flight and Bloomington Gold awards, Sebring racer C1.

Great work. Not cheap.

PM me if you want the phone number.
