Default Leaf Spring

I saw on the forum where someone had moved their leaf spring inside the frame rails by notching a cavity in the rail itself on the front mount and the rear mount ends up being just under the rear crossmember. This drops the Leaf spring to almost level. From factory it is about 5" higher in the rear.

obviously the pinion angle changes, but what are the other pros/cons of doing this.

I'm doing this on a 1956

If I remember, the idea behind that was to run a set of Cal-tracs and get a set of 10" slicks back there. Don't know if the car was ever finished, but I'm betting the the car will really hook up. I'm curious, what is your end goal ?

Just looking to go to a little wider tire and pretty much keep a spring setup. Thinking 4 link is overkill as I don't want to race it or anything. Most just some nice street performance

You will only gain an inch without tubbing the inner wheel wells. And if you tub, your convertible top won't fit.

Intuitively, with the springs inside the frame rails, they probably will be less able to oppose body roll when cornering. If my intuition is right, it means the car will understeer more at the limit.
