Default 63 Split window

Hey guys, new to this area. Ventured out of my C-3 zone to show you this Vette I found on CL. I would love to take it home, but way out of my comfort zone. Is this guy dreaming, or is this a fair price for this Split window. Thanks.

Quote from ad:
"This is a super original low mileage car and the patina is amazing."

What I find amazing is how yesterday's "needs bodywork and paint" became today's "patina" that somehow adds value.

Great price if its a complete F.I. 4 speed car, A/C, leather, power steering. Let's say its a 250hp car, auto with no options and frame is good, I would say $50-55K ball park. But, it could certainly sell for $75k if someone wants it, lotta deep pockets out there.

From the little information given, it is too high. It might be worth that, but a lot of boxes need to checked.

Nobody in their right mind wants patina on a 63 split window. This car should be restored.

When my car was judged in 2016 at Lakeland a heavily patina-ed barn find split window from Texas got all the attention.

FI cars were not available with power steering. Nor Air conditioning.

I was wondering about that as I was typing but figured someone would clarify. Thanks. Just wanted to point out options and value are related of course.
From the seller: 300 HP, silver on black, PB, PS, AC (pic he sent shows an aftermarket compressor and no vent above clock in dash), Automatic.

That certainly broadens the definition of patina..........

I'm no expert, but agree with Ken here 100%. This car, being an automatic, is probably a base engine car as well. And how does the paint get THAT destroyed being in a 'dry barn' for 45 years? It looks like it was parked outside in Arizona or New Mexico and has gone through a few sandstorms. To the O.P: 1963 SWC's are the hottest moving early Corvette right now, for reasons unknown. They have just about doubled in price in the last 4-5 years.

It doesn't........I call BS on the story.

This is what the "original untouched" paint on my '63 looks like.
The car has been properly taken care of and driven regularly for the last 55 years.

Another contrived "barn find" to suck in the unwary and those with split window 'fever'....and justify the over-the-top price asked...

Think I'll lay a bunch of pine straw all over the upper surfaces of my car, set it alight, put it out, and call it a barn find....
You have to take the ad pictures with the car sitting on a dirt field in front of some woods though, an old building in the background is even better - ambience is everything!

Lets analyze the ad:

"Patina"

No Sparky, that is not patina, that is car with all the paint on the topside sanded away in prep for repaint that never happened.

"If it were me i would leave it alone and restore the interior and get everything operational,"

He has no taste, or has no money.

" it just looks so cool the way it is."

Maybe to a HS kid that is dreaming of Corvette, or someone that likes ratrods.

"The car literally attracts a mob when you pull over somewhere."

People congregate around the car and think to themselves, OMG, what a POS, who would be seen in this in public?

"All matching numbers,"

The title matches the VIN. Though with a low HP car, it may be true.

Doug
