Default Carter AFB Carb date code help

Along with some other parts I bought for my ’67 was the Carter AFB Carb that is shown in the pictures. The part# stamped on the base is 3721S. The date code stamped on the base is 01L3. I was expecting the date code to be 3 characters instead of 4 (Engineering revision code+Month+Year). The green tag affixed shows has 3 rows showing 3721SB, 3851761 and DD. I’m asking those that are familiar with these carbs to help me with the date code, whether this is an original production issue or a service replacement. I’ll use this info to attempt determine what it is worth so I price it fairly on eBay because I have no use for it.

Thanks,
Rick

A 3721s is for a manual trans/327 300hp, 64 corvette used from Sep 63 to early Nov 63. The tag doesn't match the carb. The 3721sa was the next version used for most of the rest of model year 1964. The 3721sb was next used from the very end of 64 through 65. I believe the 3721sb became the service replacement.

The tag should say 3721s not 3721sb. The 3721sb is the most common version.

I would say jan 62 with the "B" being the version. Maybe 2nd version? I really don't know anything about 62s. Just using the same formula.

Thanks everyone. I'm still not sure why there are 4 digits in the 2nd block of numbers. If the L3 means Nov 1963, does this mean that it is an original production unit? I'm not certain what the "01" represents that appears before the "L3". I was expecting a single digit instead of 2 that would represent the engineering revision code.

I don't know what the 01 means either. It is an original production AFB as opposed to a service replacement. It's a fairly rare carb seeing that it was only in service for about 2 1/2 months. But rare does not necessarily equate to desirable. A few years back I was restoring my 64 powerglide built in October 63. I needed a 3720s AFB (not 3720sa or 3720sb). It was the most elusive part in the entire restoration. Took me 3 years to find one. But, once I found it, it was cheap. Nobody else needed one since it only applied to a very few cars.

However, check these out:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?__is...=0&_odkw=3721s

Might be worth more than I thought.

I just checked my car. I do not have the "01" in front of the date.

The "01" is a mystery, but the L3 is definitely Nov '63. .Maybe the assembler stamped the 01 to mean the 1st of the month??? (a newbie on the line?)

I have a tag that says A5 on my 65 vette carter AFB. Can I confirm that stands for Jan 1965? I also have a DD on my carb tag. What does the DD stand for please? Thanks,
