You’ll find others recommending Krylon #1613 Semi-Flat but only the Industrial 5-ball lacquer version, not the hardstore store version which is an entirely different enamel formula.

...strip any existing paint/primer that is on your speaker grill. I used low pressure in my blasting cabinet. Just enough pressure to strip the paint. You want to remove existing paint because you don't know what primer or paint might be already on it and they may not be compatible with SEM products plus you don't want a lot of paint build up on the grill.

Once the grill is stripped, thoroughly clean the metal with a good quality metal cleaner before priming and painting. Remember to do a good job rinsing the metal cleaner off the metal.

It's an extra step, but it's a really good idea to always use SEM Self Etching Primer before you paint the grill with SEM Trim Black. Those 2 products are compatible with each other and you'll get much better results. Primer is designed for better adhesion to bare metal and you'll get a better bond with Trim Black to that primer.

Because of all the small holes in the grill, just lightly mist the primer and paint on.

Several light coats are what you want here.

That grill is very prominent on the dash so take your time and you'll be rewarded with your good efforts every time you look at it.

Once you're done, keep it looking nice by never putting anything metal or hard on that grill! It's such a handy place to put your sunglasses or keys but don't do it! Nothing metal ever gets set on that grill! I personally never put anything on it unless it's soft and can't possibly scratch the grill paint.

It's a lot of work to do it correctly but these cars are worthy of our best efforts. Best of luck to you.
