Sorry for the lack of information.I am trying to define a Carter AFB carb 9635SA with this date code 8822.Somewhere there is an explanation as to define this number and was trying to find the means to define the number.
Thank you for your response.

Default Carter AFB 9635SA carb

Good morning and Thank you for your reply.
Firstly I must apologise for erroneous and lack of info
The date code on the base plate of the carb is 1840 is on a Carter 9635SA carb on the top of the carb top plate is an embossed # 8822
I think it is a carb manufactured 184 days into either 1950,60,70,or 80,however not '50 and not'80 because of vapor recovery on the carb
for 1950 and older than 1980..
Again I wish to thank you for your response.

Where (ON THE CARBURETOR) is that number stamped or cast? Got a photo?

Thank you JohnZ for your response. My Carter AFB 9635SA is what this query is about.
On the base plate the date code is stamped 1840 then 9635SA.On the top in the right front of the top is a raised number of 8822.
I think it must be a late model carb as it has vapor recovery 3/8" orifice, which would be connected to vapor recovery system.
I do not have a picture of this carb, however I could not upload a picture of a Carter I have anyway.
In any event my guess it was made on the 184 day of the year ending in a "0" i.e.'50,'60,'70,'80..My guess would be either 1970 or 1980.
Any info you can give me on deciphering the date codes on this and then I can define others I have.
Thank you in advance for any and all info you can give me..
Sal C.
