Looking for help with a 64 heater box. I am not seeing much in the assembly manual regarding the heater fan. Should there be a gasket between the fan motor and the cover?
The instructions from the Zip heater box kit mentions a grey blower motor seal, but I am not seeing anything in the kit which would fit here.
The squirrel cage of the fan seams to be bottoming out against the housing when trying to assemble. I had the fan apart for paint. Should the squirrel cage sit lower on the shaft?
Is this round gasket considered the blower motor seal?
IIRC the "flanged" edge of the fan blade cage should be oriented away from the electric motor. This should allow the cage to sit lower/closer to electric motor housing and address the clearance issue you describe. Turn the cage over and retry the fitment. Unfortunately I don't have a picture to share. Also, I don't recall any gasket being used in either the heat box mounting or in the rear vent fan mounting between the fan assembly and the heater box. (same motor/fan used in both assemblies). There is a gasket between the heater box and the firewall which you have in one of your pictures.
