Default Original master cylinger question

Pulled the master cylinder (single type) from my '64. As far as I can tell it's the original. It has a part number cast into it, and also a stamped number. Does that somehow correspond to a date?

Regardless of what route I take with frame repair/replacement, that cylinder will be replaced with a dual system. Is that something that is worth cleaning up and putting in the "parts for sale" section, or just throw it in the scrap barrel?

Thanks!

If your brake system, (lines, hoses and hardware) are in good condition you will be fine with the original master provided the bore is sleeved.

That being said I am sure someone with a 64 would like to have it if you decide to re-engineer the brake system.

I am sure the purest will say keep the single master cylinder, but if the car is not numbers original you are on your way to a driver car or a rest-mod.
If original (numbers matching) hang on the the MC for the possible buyer that wants all of the original parts.
If you are missing the original engine, I am betting the guys here on the forum will say sell it ( the MC).
I don't count as I save everything. I even have my original wife - sometimes I don't know why.

No question, I'm going to dual. Just wondering if it's something worth saving for someone. I'll do a search on past listings in the 'FOR SALE" forum and see if there is a market.

Thanks!

It's a project car and at the moment it IS original components (altho I think it's a replacement front end). But the frame is pretty bad and I'm considering the repair vs replace options. It does have a 4-speed, but it's a 250hp, soft top only, no AC, no power windows, nothing that cries out for retaining originality. I suppose keeping the MC for a future owner makes sense.

As for the wife, this one is not the original but seems to be excellent quality. Has put up with me over 35 years, and just this afternoon she gave me a hand in taking the hood off the Vette.
