First time in 47 years
I have been tinkering with, restoring, modifying, hot-rodding, if it can be done to a car, I have done it for the past 47 years.
In all of that time, one thing has never happened. I have never received a trophy at a car show.
My cars have always ended up in NCRS type events, where they are scored, and evaluated against a mythical perfect standard.
So I have never gotten a car trophy ... until this past weekend.
I entered the 64 coupe in a local car show to support the local elementary school. There were only about 20 cars, since weather was threatening.
One of the cars that showed up was a survivor quality 1970 LT-1 full option convertible, original red on saddle. The car looked great, and was factory equipped with P/S, P/B, T/T, alarm system. AM/FM stereo.
It was also a numbers matching car, as best I could tell. It wasn't perfect, and I could see some non original issues, but it still looked real good.
And the best past was that the owner was a 20 something year old Corvette enthusiast.
So nice to see young people involved in the hobby at that level.
The 70 LT-1 car, plus my trophy.

Nice '64. The redlines/knockoffs really set it off. Dennis

Congrats that is a stunning car!
I know the feeling. I took my 66 to Carlisle in 2016 and the Corvette purists loved it. Even got a Celeb Choice Award.
Take it to local shows and it hardly gets looked at.

Lt1
Code CTO in 1970 is not an LT1---It is a 350/350. An LT1 would be code CTR. Your car is gorgeous. Congratulations !!!

If I remember correctly you searched long and hard to find your Corvette.
I'm sure it was well worth it as the car is gorgeous.
Now you have the hard wear to show for it.

Congrats on the win with your beautiful car. Now you're one trophy ahead of me.

I have the same problem with my big block camaro.
People see the lack luster paint and pass it over, when in retrospect it should win every time.
I’d pick an original paint car that looked good over a restored car any day of the week.
Ahhh but such is life..

Thanks guys.
The redlines are history. They did not ride that great, and one of them developed a bubble on the sidewall. Coker did replace it under warranty, and I replaced the redlines with Michelins.
Sold the redlines.
The Michelins ride so nice.

There is another car show at work (Marshall Space Flight Center, Redstone Arsenal) tomorrow during lunch.
I hope my 64 is back from it's differential replacement in time. Car should be done today.

I could see elementary school kids liking C2 and C3 cars! They probably are smarter than their teachers these days! Did you get something to put on your refrigerator, to make Mom and Dad proud of you!
