Default If Jaguar can do it..how about GM?

I normally don't read anything about the royals...but when I saw a picture of the new Duke & Duchess get into a classic Jaguar to go to their wedding reception I thought, how cool. It turns out this was no ordinary Jag. It was an electric version called the "Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero" which is a modern version of the 1968 model that Jaguar can build for you for around $500k. The car was powered by a 300hp electric motor an is quicker than the original 6 cylinder and has a top speed of 150mph and rage of 170 miles. A factory "Restomod" if you will. This got me thinking if GM would ever do something like this with our beloved C1/C2's or any other classic they've made in the past?

A $500K electric powered 63 Split window or a 68?

Nope.

A hugely limited market - even the royal newlyweds just rented it....
1/2 million ? Yeah, I'll pass...

That's pretty cool! Thanks!
I'm guessing it won't pass current DOT safety standards in the US. I expect the Royals can get around that stuff in the UK.

You want to be no farther than that from a fire station

Left hand drive???? Glad the royals had clear traffic, 'cause I bet that's fun to drive in the left lane in London traffic...

Sure - GM can make one like that for $500,000.

Heck, even I could do it for probably half that.

Why would anybody want that for that price?

That's a good question. That range may be optimistic.

Kudos to Jaguar for doing that, but yeah - limited market appeal, big budget and probably not much good old excitement in the driving experience. I think there is something about the internal combustion engine imprinted in our DNA over the last 100 years. Nothing does it for a lot of us like fuel fumes, valve clatter, moaning carburetors and roaring exhaust.

The left hand drive and the price in US $ is what got me thinking Jaguar is building these for the US market. Perhaps they can title it as a '68 to get around any regs?

When you take away the exhaust note of a British car, that doesn't leave much.
