Default Headlight Bucket (repop)

How good do the repop headlight buckets fit? My original one has a few broken tabs and was I thinking of buying a repop but wondered about the fitment.

Find a good original one or a new old stock bucket the reproduction buckets are junk. They’re just a rough casting that you’ll spend hours fixing.

I have a pair of reproduction headlight buckets ( the zinc die-cast type ) and they did need a fair amount of filling and sanding to match the contours of the body. Cant compare them to the originals as I never had them, but doubt the factory would of done any bodywork to them.

Absolutely correct, there are plenty of good originals around, and even if you pay more for a good original, you will be hours and/or dollars ahead after installing them.

Thanks guys. I kinda had that feeling. Most repop stuff are junk.

Gads! How about stating the YEAR bucket you need - 63s are unique and fiberglass...?

Its for a 66. Are the GM license repop a bad fitment also?

Just my opinion, but any replacement bucket will likely need "work" to fit up. That said, some of the "new" ones do have a rough finish requiring lots of extra work on an area that should be smooth.

I found the fit o.k, just needed a bit of filler to smooth out some slight imperfections and fit the contours perfect .Certainly not hours, maybe an hour or so for an experienced repairer.

Repairing head light buckets is hard enough. Use only GM parts.

That's all I would use is GM parts. But from what it sounds like here I'm better off looking for a used one.
