Default Oil fill tube gasket

1964 300hp/327. Is there supposed to be a gasket under the twist on cap for the oil fill tube?

Yes. There's supposed to be one on your dip stick as well to seal the crankcase and let the PVC system do it's job.

Yes, as MikeM mentioned, there is a thick (3/16"?) cork gasket under the cap. NOS below but I'm sure it's made in reproduction by a few parts vendors.

I ordered one the other day and it was a disk and made of some fiberous material- like card board. Like the looks of your cork one better.

I cut one out of cork from O'Reilly's. It was the size of a silver dollar with a nickel in the center. All fixed.
