Last fall, I finally nagged my wife into allowing me to purchase a brand new (in 1958) Corvette. Naturally, I have been informed that riding in it is 1. Too Hot and 2. Messes up her hair (which are complaints that have been mentioned many times over the years from the passenger seat of this car no doubt.) I am familiar with Vintage Air but was wondering if they were the only "game in town" for decent aftermarket A/C units for cars of this age. I would prefer, if possible, to have the vents completely hidden (perhaps just pointing towards the floor under the dash) but don't know if this is even possible. Has anyone any advice? Thanks!
you can point the vents any way you can fab a bracket to do so, but pointing them to the floor will be a BIG mistake. C1's are hot and leaky and drafty and you need the air directed towards you.
do a forum search for C1 a/c and you can find all sorts of info and opinions. vendors include Classic Air, Vintage Air, and others I can't remember

Thanks for the information regarding the positioning of the vents!

Bottom line is you got your 58 vette Dorian. My wife has hated vettes for decades, for all the wrong reasons. She figures everyone who drives a vette is just looking for attention or young girls. Never could understand the "man and his car bond" as the draw. But, she was onboard for me to buy 50% of a 2018 GS with my son. We hardly ever drove it, because it was not what I was looking for and it scared her whenever I punch it, so I sold my interest to my sons father-in-law.
But, it gave rise to the opportunity to discuss that any vette we owned, would sit in the garage 95% of the time and I'd rather look at a classic vette than a "TRON" car (no disrespect to late C owners). She finally agreed when my son chimed in (amazing how that works) so we got the 62. She loves it!!! Loves the dual headlights, saying it makes her feel like the old days and she even likes the minor gas smell in the garage. So, go figure.
She still hasn't found the right scarf to keep her hair from blowing in her face, but she'll figure it out. And yes, we are going to get A/C too.
