So, you are retired. What did you do today with your C1 or C2 ?

I am probably one year away from retirement. But since you asked, counselour … I just returned from visiting my wife who is taking 12-16 week jobs out of state to skirt the country on someone else's dime so that we can figure out where we might wind up. I spent the last three days in Des Moines, Iowa. Pretty good food, really great local craft beer, nice running and bicycling trail system, wonderful museum, an outstanding farmer's market on Saturday mornings and then a double-header of Chicago's farm team, the Iowa Cubs, out there in the sun. Holy crap, this town is a blast !

The 1 drawback - their winters can be icy/sleety/dank.... Minneapolis gets more snow, Des Moines seems to get snow and ice. For sure their winters are shorter which is a huge plus.
Bottom line - you can't go wrong in Des Moines (My most humble opinion).

Went over my 67 with Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer and discovered a drop of the devil's own tree sap that took over an hour's soaking in Tarminator to go away.

went to West Marine and bought some 105 resin and 205 hardener, checked in some new parts from Paragon and Corvette Central. Determined that adhesives I bought back in 2009 were expired...ugh! Money down the drain! Reloading new adhesives....

I started out with a plan and then changed it because it was too hot. Wife told me I can do whatever I want so I did nothing. And, I felt really good that I can do whatever I want tomorrow. Greatest part is I don't want to go to sleep but I cannot wait for tomorrow to get up and do whatever I want. My 58 corvette restoration is not an effort but pure enjoyment. If I wake up at 3:30 AM and I am in the mood I am drinking coffee and working on the car. If it is 3:30 PM and am in the mood I am having a beer or glass of beer and working on the car. Life is great if you have the right mate.

I grew up in Des Moines and moved to Minneapolis 37 years ago (job took me there). I've often thought of going back. It's a great city, lots to do, SUPER friendly people.

Drove the 65 the other day, brake pedal went to the floor. No leaks anywhere so assumed master cylinder. Took it apart, looked like bore wouldn’t clean up so ordered a new one, be here tomorrow. Always something, but it keeps me busy and makes the car better.

Installing new Front wheel bearings
I thought it would be a good idea to replace the front wheel bearings. Over 80,000 miles on them since 2010. I noticed a wobble on both sides when balancing tires .
I usually do all my work , but this time , because of lack of garage (moving) I am having Jim Burt do the work.. He put in my clutch last month.
You remember, the garage in the woods...that some members with clean cars would not go to.
but as we get older..less flexible...it is great to find someone who knows our cars and can fix the things, that we tend not to be able to do...as comfortably as in the past.
Jack
Ps I got to go buy the bearings.....he will also grease, torque and check out moving parts so that I am not calling AAA on the way to Pittsburgh Grand Prix

I put a new coil in the 66 today. That took about ten minutes. Driving home from dinner on Father’s Day the car suddenly ran very rough, spittin’ and fartin’. Pulled to the side of the road and everything seemed right. Got in started right up and drove away like nothing was wrong. Half mile later same thing happen. Called AAA for a tow home.
All better now, I hope.

Well you better tighten up all connections first start with the coil .
