Default Missing 1953 Corvettes

OK, I cannot find any reference for the following 1953 Corvettes. I have checked NMVTIS, Corvette Action Center 1953 Survey, C1 registry, and googled the ones that did not show up anywhere.

Missing are:

010, 020, 036, 037, 042, 045, 047, 054, 059 (stolen in 1982), 070, 078, 081, 090, 092, 095, 102, 104, 108, 111, 131, 133, 134, 144 (chassis found under another body), 146, 152, 159, 161, 162, 164, 165, 166, 167, 170, 171, 172, 183, 189, 197, 208, 211, 212, 216, 218, 219, 223, 224, 230, 238, 240, 242, 248, 263, 264, 270, 271, 272, 275, 277, 279, 287, 289, 294.

That is a total of 62 1953 Corvettes that I cannot find any reference to.

62 / 300 * 100 = 20.67% of the 1953 Corvettes unaccounted for.

Can anyone point me at any info for any of these cars.

I don't know the Vins, but didn't Al Wiseman use 4 to build 2 back n the 2003 timeframe?

I believe Wiseman had #147 and #158, both accounted for.

Based on a forum search, I believe JohnZ had #036.

I saw in a thread sometime back that a collector has 12 or 14 1953 vetts in his collection.

There should be at least a couple of documents for #029.

Cars in red are referenced in Noland Adam's book, so I will assume they exist somewhere;

E53F001090 - page 70
E53F001183 - page 90, Page 95
E53F001208 - page 95

So that is 59 of 300 59/300x100 = 19.67% 1953 Corvettes unacccounted for

I also seem to recall John relating a story of what eventually happened to the car. I don't think the car exists anymore, but I'm sure he can fill in the details.

OK, so here is the revised list of missing 1953 Corvettes:

Missing are:

020, 036, 037, 042, 045, 047, 054, 059 (stolen in 1982), 070, 078, 081, 092, 095, 102, 104 111, 131, 133, 134, 144 (chassis found under another body), 146, 152, 161, 162, 164, 165, 166, 167, 170, 171, 172, 189, 212, 216, 218, 219, 223, 224, 238, 242, 248, 263, 264, 270, 271, 272, 275, 287, 289, 294.

Here is a better way of looking at it..

020 081 146 172 248
036 092 152 189 263
037 095 161 212 264
042 102 162 216 270
045 104 164 218 271
047 111 165 219 272
054 131 166 223 275
059* 133 167 224 287
070 134 170 238 289
078 144** 171 242 294

* 059 stolen in 1982
** 144 chassis found under another body

Clarification, we acknowldege that cars 001 and 002 were destroyed, so they are "accounted for".

Another piece of info..the following cars were located in NMVTIS, but I did not find any other reference to them.

013 073
080 139
154 176
179 180
188 192
194 221
235 236
241 273
282 283
295 299

I know that 299 exists. My last message just conveyed the idea that the only reference I had on 299 was that it is listed in NMVTIS.

OK, 042 has been accounted for.

That leaves 49 missing

49/300x100 = 16.33% missing
