Default Some more old Bloomington photos [PLEASE ADD CONTENT!]

Recently someone was looking for old Bloomington Gold photos... I was unable to find some of the ones I wanted to post, so here's a few.

Everyone, please feel free to add to this thread and make it an old Bloomington Gold thread with whatever you find interesting... as Critter suggested below, please add just from the original McLean County Fairgrounds location.

These first 2 were from possibly the first BG I attended in 1981. There was a lot across the street from the Holiday Inn/turn road to Veterans Parkway that used to have little autocrosses people would park along the edge towards the road. The first picture I took was all those shark noses pointing at the traffic. Thought it was cool.

These are from some of the Corvette parking in the area. The '82 collector conversion was from '84 I think:

These 2 pictures were from a Special Collection at the Bone Student Center in Normal, not far from Bloomington Gold. The second picture was taken after we heard a loud glass breaking sound and it turned out an overhead light of some kind broke, fell down, or something and landed on an exhibitors beautiful black car. The Center's employees were kinda freaking out. Im not exactly sure why the one lady has a tablecloth pinned to her shoulder. I do remember the owner being incredibly cool and calm about the who fiasco. Unlike today, I'd imagine:

That's a good idea. Maybe just the event at it's original location at the fairgrounds in Bloomington. This could be a sticky.

I hope someone here has a photo of the 1981(?) Corvette that came in pulling a 30-35 foot three axle trailer that was stacked end/end and two high, Corvette body and various chassis parts.

I remember that. That was the bunch from New York that had all near new complete cars but in pieces. Only part missing was the VIN's. LOL

Yeah, confining it to the McLean County Fairgrounds days is the way to go here.

Here is a picture of a very nice L88 Convertible at the Special Collection in 1985. I saw the current owner at the L88 collection this year and gave him the photo.

I should have kept that car. That was a really nice one. I hear it now lives somewhere around Ocala, FL.

I may have told you that. Last time I was at my daughter's house in Ocala, I looked around in the neighborhood where I was told it might be. Mike Cobine/s (member here) buddy is the guy who said it might be in Ocala.

That car had less than 15K miles on it when you got it? Might of had 12K when I tried to get it.

I think it had somewhere around 40K miles when I got it. Still had it's complete original 63 only exhaust system on it when I bought it. Almost all original paint. Tom Joy 1st owner sent me some original paperwork. I also got the original invoice from Mrs Werder at V V Cook Chevrolet.

Good idea for the Bloomington photos. Here's a couple from Earthquake '88 to get us started.

Anyone know if the panoramic shots are still available to purchase ? There's another view looking north from the platform by the tent. Local Corvette shop has one, but it's faded after 30 years.

Anyone have pics of the burn-outs in the Holiday Inn parking lot ?

Default Grand Sport #1

Richard Buxbaum driving Grand Sport #1 with Jerome Shinkay. Bill Locke (vette vues magazine) taking pic's. Richard was doing burnouts and donuts on the lawn of the show field.

I don't remember the year but probably around early-mid 80's?
