Default Coolant temp sender.

I have read all of the posts on these and just wondered if any body has found an accurate sender for 1960 temp gauge? According to the Wilcox sight the gauges all have different requirements year to year almost. All of the senders for sale claim 1957 to well up into the 1960s. I bought one and it is so far off it is a joke. Shows 180 when the infrared gun shows 115/120 at and around the stat housing while warming up and it pegged shortly there after.

I have one coming from Mid America Corvette that is very different in appearance (much skinnier probe), and even has a AC Delco stamping with a number. Any body tried this one?

As usual all thoughts and solutions are most welcome and very appreciated.

I've been very happy with a Duralast TU5 from AutoZone. Cheaper than typical vendors, too. YRMV.

Are you running the TU5 in the 60?

There are two persons that can calibrate a sender to your gauge .Fred Oliva in Florida and Rick Stolzer of Rick Restoration in Md .

I think I am, I have replaced more than one and I can't be positive. I have only purchased the TU5 and no other sender for a few years now, so I feel like I am. I'll see if I can check it without removing and post back.

Edit: The current temp sensor in my 60 is a part # M-3511 from Zip Corvette.

I tried five TU5’s from Autozone and none worked. Finally bought a used original off EBay (expensive) but it’s dead on accurate!

The YEAR of the car means nothing when shopping for a temp sender - they're all the same from 1956-1967 for Mechanical (NPT thread size and button-head connector), and Electrical (resistance curve). The internal thermistor (variable resistance element) is supposedly calibrated to the same curve as the original AC #1513321, but there's a LOT of brand-to-brand variation here for the supposedly compatible replacements - there was near ZERO variation on the originals.

Perhaps you meant Lectric Limited? They claim their sending units are accurate.
