Oil filter bypass adapter needed?

windshield wipers will work on a billy goats *** if you hook em up right. This however is ever is not going to be a bolt up deal. You see the recess in DZs pics for the early block. The bypass fits in that. If you just throw it on there it not going to seal off at the bottom the way it should and your holes will be obstructed by the step that is there on the later block that is not present on the early block. With the bypass sitting higher because it's on this lip is going to cause it to collapse the filter that amount. Yes you could machine the block to work but I'm guessing you won't go that far.

I personally would use some red loctite on the threaded hollow tube. When I screwed on the filter, it screwed on about 2 threads which I didn't know, then it screwed the threaded tube further into the adapter. So, when I finished tightening the filter, it was essentially being held on by 2 threads. Driving down the road, the filter blew off. I used the loctite to secure the tube so it wouldn't screw further into the adapter.

No I won't go that far. If that's the case, I have a nice complete canister set up with new filter if anyone is interested.
