Guys, I need to find a current pait code for Riverside Red 1964. Only one I have found is the old original, which my painter claims he can not find in his arcives.
Please help!
Mikael
:) :) :)
Had my '63 painted this spring. Body shop uses PPG Deitron. The original GM code they used was 923 and the PPG code is DBU71243 H. They call it Seminole Red. It looks right and the painter is a 20 year Corvette shop.
Here are the mixing formulas for different quantities. This is for DuPont Chromabase, but I can pull single stage formulas as well if you want them.
Mix Base Mix Base Color Custom Pint Quart 2-Quart 3-Quart Gallon
855J LIGHT RED 57.1 114.2 228.4 342.6 456.8
853J RED ORANGE 106.5 213.0 426.0 639.0 852.0
850J BRILLIANT RED 115.6 231.2 462.4 693.6 924.8
801J HS WHITE 121.7 243.4 486.8 730.2 973.6
150K B/C BALANCER 343.7 687.4 1374.8 2062.2 2749.6
175K BINDER 433.3 866.6 1733.2 2599.8 3466.4
I had my 63 painted in 1992 using DuPont lacquer. Back then it was still available over the counter at $43/gallon using the original tints. I found that Riverside Red to be a fairly orange red. Does my experience match other findings on original factory paint jobs? Or did the Du Pont mix come out with too much of an orange tint? How orange is the current red mix?
BTW the paint code on my data plate says 923A. Everyone refers to it as 923. What does the "A" stand for?
