That’s why I said I use a big block of wood that spans the length of the cradle and places the load on the front and back walls of the cradle assembly. Yeah, stick a bottle jack or any jack with a small jack pad directly under the center part of the cradle bottom and you’ll distort the hell out of it.

I almost always use 2 separate forms of support. A very handy option is 4x4's, cut to 1 foot lengths. Jack the car up, place your jack stands. then take the 4'xs and alternate them like kids blocks - 2 (or 3) going one way, then 2 or 3 the opposite way, etc. Stack them up to within a small gap below the frame. That way if a jack stand fails, it only falls an inch or so.

One alternative I trust enough to not use a secondary method is wheel stands made from 2x4's. Several guys in C-4 General have made them and they are more than sturdy enough to support the car safely.

I use the factory lift points with my two post lift, I've got a convertible and as DUB mentioned there is frame flex. If it's going to be up for any length of time or I'm having to put some force on a wrench, I use two tall jackstansd forward and backward as far as I can.

Thanks for all the advice. The new wheels fit well and everything worked out well.
