When I got my '67 several(18yrs) back, the PO said he had clock converted to quartz. Well it only works sporadically, when it does.
My question is when I pull it out, who do I send it to? Or is there anything I can do before hand? Thanks!!
When you pull it out, do it from the glove box side. Upon removal you'll be able to see if it's converted. I can't recommend anyone, but others here may know the best place too send it. I don't know if a quartz conversion can be repaired or should be replaced. Dennis

Are you sure he didn't say it NEEDS to be converted to quartz? It sure sounds like an original movement to me and they usually just need cleaning.
No, he has referred to it more than once that he had it converted, and does not understand why it doesn't work. Also, I never heard a "tink", but with side pipes, that's possible. lol.

The clock runs with the engine off. I don't hear it above the noise of my engine running either.
When I first got the car, I would wonder what this sound was.
If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, you can do this yourself. It's not expensive or difficult. It's actually easier than repairing electro-mechanical clock works. I've done both. You can get a quartz movement and a video on DVD that covers the procedure from Instrument Services Inc.
I'm pretty sure this outfit will do the work if the clock is sent in. As was suggested, I would try the clock once it's out with a couple test leads to the battery first. It may be just a matter of a bad or intermittent connection. And as was mentioned, the clock should run all the time as long as the battery is connected.
@seb67, thank you, I will try that. If I set it, it runs for like 15 min. But it’s not like it’s not getting power, as the arm keeps twitching but doesn’t go anywhere. Thank all you guys for the input!
