Internal spring compressor for front spring removal?
Are you guys using an internal or center mount spring compressor to get the front coils out? I popped the driver side spindle off the upper ball joint with my floor jack under the lower A arm and quickly realized that theres no way I can get the car high enough (safely) to lower the lower A arm to the point where the spring will come out.....so I'm going to need to compress it.
What is preventing you from raising the car chassis higher?
I have used a lift, and even tall 6-ton jack stands, under the frame, and with a safety chain looped down through the coil from above the fender shock eye hole to below the lower a-arm, I was always able to lower the lower a-arm slowly until the spring released from the upper pocket with no drama.
Yes............most of us use the center mount spring compressor. We had this discussion only a few months ago, so the thread should be fairly recent. But it has been discussed MANY times here, so it will be available in the archives as well.
