OK, so the interior mirror on R66 would creep down on rough roads (includes all IL roads) and crossing rumble strips. I have been searching ways to tighten it up and found a U-tube were the guy soaked it in gasoline overnight and the glass mirror was easily removed. I am not ready to do that yet as I am concerned about the date code disappearing.
On the way to a show, I was constantly readjusting the mirror. Out of total frustration, I spun the mirror 180 degrees top to bottom. It seems tighter and did not vibrate or move for the 20+ miles I have driven since. Call it a BUBBA repair not for the purist, but if it works
When I get an old mirror to play with, I may try the gasoline trick.
FYI - might or might not work for you.
