[C1] Volt Meter upgrade
Placed the 12vdc on a switched circuit on the drivers' side post and a Neg grnd from the passenger side post to the cluster bolt
Lites and "most" everything is working and the cluster is installed back in the dash
I removed the wires from the gauge and test with a VOM no reading across both posts and, 3.45 ohms across the posts
I used a 9vdc battery and no needle movement, so I got a good 12Vdc jumper battery and still no movement, as a matter of fact, the needle is not even visible!! I did switch pos and neg post
I did "bunch up" the (3) 12vdc and placed them on the drivers' side post when I wired up the dash cluster
1 red wire went to the horn relay and (2) to the starter battery connection and a third to the Bat side of the starter switch and the passenger side post went to ground
After I replaced the new gauge I did not bench test it, I guess the needle could be "stuck" from the replacement in the housing!!
A traditional voltmeter measures electrical potential in parallel with the circuit ....
I can't really tell from your description what youve done...
You somehow want to wire things so that you are measuring the potential from the output of the voltage regulator to ground...
