Default Headlight issue

I have a problem in my 67 that I can't figure out for the life of me . When I turn on my my headlights the high beams also come on only very dim. When I hit the high beam floor switch the high beam becomes stronger and the regular head light becomes less bright. I have changed both the headlight switch and the floor high beam switch. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Michael

That is usually a ground issue. Did this just start on its own or was it following some other work that you did? You may have corrosion in the connectors and since the headlight operate in parallel with a common ground shared between low and high beams it impacts all four. I would start by visually inspecting the connectors. You can isolate each side by unplugging the three pin connector on the outboard side of each headlight assembly. Do one side at a time and see if the other side starts working correctly.

sounds to me very much like you don't have good grounds on all four of the headlights. Each light should have a black wire that comes through connectors and grounds to the radiator support. Test by clipping a jumper lead from ground to each of the headlight black wires, hard to measure with an ohmmeter because you're reading through the filaments of the bulbs. if you already have the bulbs out you can disconnect all four and read from the black lead to ground and you should get almost zero ohms on each black wire.

That is a brand new harness. I will start by investigating the ground wires. After I installed the harness everything worked fine maybe something worked loose. Thank you for your reply
