I'm trying to figure out why my 67 shifter boot (4spd) didn't fit right. It's all crimped up on one side. It came with the car when I bought it. I can't seem to find any "different sizes" on the part guys' websites. So... before I break out the jigsaw (KIDDING!). What am I missing?
There are TWO different retainers for the shift boot - one goes on top and sandwiches the rubber boot between itself and the top of the floor pan (A.I.M., UPC 1Asm, Sheet E3, item #4), and one goes BELOW the floor pan, riveted in place (A.I.M., UPC 1 Bolt/Weld, Sheet B3, item #2) and accepts the screws from the upper retainer. The upper retainer in your photo doesn't look like the correct part.
