I upgraded my gauges two years ago and just now getting around to the clock. I have Emailed Classic Instruments for the info and procedures. Meanwhile, have any of you mailed them a clock for new facing and dial and how did it work out?
You haven't mentioned what year clock you are talking about, which may bear on the responses.
I can personally only address a '63 clock and my personal experience for what it may be worth. A few years back I was in search of a suitable replacement for my '63 clock with little success when I spoke to the folks of Corvette Specialties of MD West while at Carlisle. The condition of my clock at the time was very bad and I really didn't believe it to be salvageable. Considering the cost and difficulty of finding a replacement for my clock, I was intrigued by their offer to allow them to have a look at my clock and determine if it could be restored.
I sent them my clock after returning home and was very pleased with the outcome. It's appearance and function is certainly the equivalent of when it left St Louis in September of 1962.
I just removed my 59 vette clock and I am sending it to Clock Works in Wisconsin. Look up their website they are highly recommended in this forum. I just spoke to them and they do a very thorough restoration service. For my 59 clock is $79. Check them out. Do a search there are many postings on how to remove your car clock. http://clockwks.com/The_Clock_Worx.html
