If you already sent them out to chrome I would just get them fixed up and chromed

How bad are they? Do you have any pics? Mine were bent and had dents in places. The chromer straightened and repaired them. They look brand new.

Mine need to be re-chromed, but I haven't had the courage to get any quotes. If you don't mind, what is it expected to cost?

Along with that, the hood hinges, latches, fan shroud, water pump and crank pulleys, and L-79-specific brackets and idler pulley were also chromed by a previous owner. It sure would be nice to get those redone as well.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dave,
The original quote was 250 300 per bumper.
And that was including a few very small dents

Shipping cost both ways also adds up really fast. Not cheap at all............

Thanks, blap. Mine are straight, just a little pitted and sad looking. You'd think that the price would come down for dipping 4 pieces that are relatively the same size, like $300 for the first, $150 for the next three. My big ticket item is probably the fan shroud, it's pretty large. I wonder if nickel is cheaper?
CorvetteMikeB, hopefully I will be able to find a local place.

Virginia Vettes is the most reasonable but not everyone likes the results. They do a great driver qualifiy plating job and stand by their work.

Some re- chroming places talk about driver quality re-chroming and if you pay $$$ more you will get show quality re-chroming. Is there such a thing? Or is it all "Hipe" to get more money out of your wallet???

I purchased rears for my 64 last year from Paragon, and I must say that I was extremely pleased with fit and looks. Did not have to tweak anything. They really did fit perfect.
My originals had holes for a hitch and one had rust through.Took a shot at paying for the best repos and I didn’t lose.👍🏻

I bought a front set from Paragon when they were on special and was very happy with them. I was starting fresh to install them since the old original ones have been removed 40 years before. I think those bumpers were right about $1000 maybe 1100 . I have the rears re-chromed in that was 600 and it turned out pretty good .
