They are....same wheels RS has used on a couple of their builds now.

Finished installing the fuel tank and cleaned up my original bellhousing and fork.

My engine also showed up, but fedex didn’t get here until 7:30. I’m usually beat by 6:00 and ready for dinner so it will sit in the driveway tonight. It’s killing me not to go open it, but I did grab the dyno sheet!

A peak inside through the filler. Everything looks to be in place.

Tank all buttoned up. Still have to wire the fuel pump, but I’ll do that once the engine is installed.

I didn’t remember the original tank filler neck being this far off center? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I thought my original bellhousing was painted black. Turned out it was just 55 years of grease and crud. She sparkles now!

Say hello to my little friend.

That’s pretty good 541hp @5800rpm. Should scoot.

That should move along rather nicely! Good work.

Looking good. I don’t remember my tank being that offset but it’s been awhile.

Re: tank offset

left to right - you can loosen the straps and move it

front to back - if it’s seated right I think you get what you get and don’t throw a fit

That's a sweet looking Dyno Sheet - the crossover right on @ 530LLB's & 5300RPM (Approx) - the fuel filler neck needs to be centred to seal with the fuel cap - but you're aware already - GV

Thanks. It’s centered left to right, but too far forward. The cap fits and seals fine, but the rubber spill catcher doesn’t seal to the deck (perhaps it’s not supposed to?). Functionally all is fine, just curious about fit, but then it is an aftermarket tank, so...

How is it compared with the roadster you have in the same garage ? - GV

The convertible tank filler is centered, however, a convertible filler neck is different.

The tank sits on both the rear and removable crossmembers evenly. I’m not going to worry about it.

I just installed a Tanks Inc tank in a vert and it centers up. There is plenty of room to move the tank side to side to center it but that strap with the bridge is a pain to get in the right spot. I had to walk away for a while.

Thanks, that is exactly what I am going to do. I noticed the forward edge of the bridge is on the edge of the sender. Otherwise the tank is perfectly centered side to side. I’m going to loosen the straps ant try to pull it back once I have the engine installed. Although, I’m sure the straps have taken a set by now.

First look at the engine.

While trying to adjust the straps I had some trouble with the straps jumping out of the slot in the rear cross-member. I found that a small (approx 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 1/4) piece of aluminum (or wood) placed over the strap end and clamped to the cross-member with a 2" C clamp kept the strap seated in the slot and allowed the tank to be dropped a few inches with temporary longer bolts on the removable cross-member to allow adjustment of the bridge and strap.

I prefer the sound of an old school small block to an LS.

Old school engine, old school look, newer school efi.

The best of both worlds!

Even though it's got a Dyno Sheet, experience says, I'd re-check clearances and torque settings before dropping it into the well - GV

I still have a bunch of engine bay work to complete before the engine goes in. Plus, I thought with all that torque I better order an 11” flywheel and clutch, but I wanted to keep the stock bellhousing. Oops. Only a 10 1/2” fits. The slippery slope says order a new bellhousing and while your at it get a new fork, pivot and boot. What the heck! The upside is my mechanical clutch will be easy in the leg.

i also have a particular look I want for this engine (remember silver and black), so some changes are in order. I hope to paint the engine bay before we leave for NY next week. Then when we get back the real fun will begin!
