65 Sharkbite rear suspension install help needed
Hey All;
'65 BB - Red Car... So I got a Sharkbite rear suspension set up with the purchase of the Black Car and decided to install it on the Red Car.... As they say, it was all going so good until some guy from Texas said, "Hold my beer and watch this!"..... but really the install directions are not that great, but one can mostly find their way on the install..... But.... when installing the Control Arms that go from the Diff, out to the outer verticals, it just wont work.... There are 4 bolts that hold the center bracket onto the Diff and the inner bolt heads hit the control bracket and stop it from being able to raise it up about an inch...
My first thought was to grind down/mill the bolt head down or grind away part of the control arm, but I'm not sure to what tolerance this stuff was built and as always, I work on cars when companies are closed....
Has anyone here installed the kit and did they find the same issue? Now it could be this kit is from 2012 and they have made several improvements since then, but who knows...
Here are some pics that don't show it perfectly but...

Just note those bolt holes are a blind hole. If those bolts are too long you will crack the rear end.

Diehard, I have not compared different head options, but i'd suspect the differences in head height would only be a mm or two. Close, but I need like 3-4mm reduction in the head of the bolt.... I'm hoping to hear from Direct Speed today....

Andy, you may need to remove the lock washer and use loctite or clearance that nicely powder coated part or both. Yours is not the first issue I’ve heard when installing Sharkbite components. Most stem from a mixture of aftermarket parts.good luck!

So I received an email back from Speed Direct and they sent updated directions (mine are from 2012) and in the newer, much clearer directions, it does say to install that set of back bolts without the lock washers... I'll give it a try!
