Reliable repair shop near Austin TX (Harker Heights TX)
Hi All, New Corvette owner, Newb to the forums. I just purchased a 1965 Corvette and had it delivered on Friday. Unfortunately I found a crack in the Tremec TKO transmission bell housing. After talking with the seller, he wants to make it right so I'm looking for a good shop that works on old and resto mod corvettes. I'm looking for someone who is fare and knowledgeable. If anyone has any recommendations of a shop near Ft Hood TX/Austin TX area please let me know.

Austin Corvette on N. Lamar does a ton of mechanicals, frameoffs and paint/body on C2’s. My 63 is there now for a down-to-glass paint job. Gary is the owner. Give him a call and see if they can help or maybe refer you to someone who can. Good luck and welcome to our forum!

Regardless of what some warrants think of commissioned guys, I loved warrant officers. Two of my flight pilots and best friends in Viet Nam were CW2's. They are still great friends today and achieved the rank of CW5. In fact, when we go to Fort Hood to Golf there is a reserved parking spot for Generals and one for CW5's. I am getting tired of having that rubbed in my face as a lowly LTC without a reserved parking sign. Thank you for serving and doing what you do. And, have a bunch of fun with your car.

You really don't need a Corvette repair shop to fix a cracked bellhousing for a Tremec. Many experienced shops can do that work, perhaps at a rate lower than what you may experience.

Does it have a removable crossmember? If so, almost any reputable shop can do the work. Without a removable crossmember, I would take it to someone very experienced in working on C2 Corvettes.
