Default Blower Motor

I searched threads on this and saw something about "everyone knows about the upgrade of the C2 fan and motor" but I can't find the original information. Does anyone remember what this is about as there are many of these for sale in various places, so should the stock C2 blower motor/fan assembly be replaced with a newer version and why?

Thanks--sorry if this has been done to death, but I am a newbie and can not find info about this on the Forum.

Cheers,

Richard

If you replace the motor with a new one, you need to put a 15 amp fuse in place of the 10 amp. The new motor on start up draws 12 amps then settles down. You will blow fuses if you turn fan on and off quickly. Don’t worry, the wires can handle 15 amp fusee

Jack

ps if you fan works without making noises from lose parts, do nothing.

My original fan works as designed and the heater/defroster will run you out. Dennis

THANK-YOU very much. I will have to see how it all works when I get the car--it has C60 as well, so wanted to be sure I did not need to make changes if it is all working.

Cheers,

Richard

Thank-you very much. I hope mine does as well, and will find out when I get the car. I was trying to see if there was a known issue that was solved in the C3 cars that needed to be retrofitted, but evidently not, so once I have the car in hand I will determine if it is working OK. FYI, it also has C60, so want to be sure it is working as designed.

Cheers,

Richard

Corvettes used the same blower as Impalas and other passinger cars.

If I am not mistaken most of these old cars have a high speed blower relay that often fails, not sure on old Corvettes. Someone that knows for sure will chime in.

Yes, I know as I had two factory A/C cars but I don't know about cars without A/C.

That's not a blower motor relay, THIS is a BLOWER MOTOR relay...love it!

No worries; I have a hundred questions and more to come, but the combined help threads are a wealth of knowledge that I try to read some of each time I use the Forum. Now that I know the deal with this relay, I will make sure it is good. Thanks to those who provided a heads-up on the relay!

Cheers,

Richard

Thank-you very much for that information. Nice to see they used parts across models when they could!
