Default Two questions

Both of my 61's have this area painted body color. Is this correct or should it be black, gloss, low gloss or satin?
Also, do the deck lid conv. top latches get gaskets between them and the lid?
There will be more.
Thanks,
Joe

Don't take my word for it but I do believe that area is suppose to be black and maybe the same as that used on the engine compartment painting.

That area was painted semi-gloss black at the factory.

1. That area behind the front bumpers should be black.

2. The clamps for the rear convertible top latches did not have gaskets between them and the deck lid. Some vendors sell them. Seems like a good idea. Seems like it would protect the paint on the rear deck lid. I had them at one time. But they didn't really protect the paint.

A friend's blue 59 (owned for 40 years and believes it came that way) and my red 60 are black. In my opinion they look better black so that the opening matches the grill opening and looks like a duct. They are closer to a flat black or semi-gloss and mine has faded some, and smooth. I'm sure someone has a book that can look up what should be correct, but I'm staying with black.

Semi-gloss black is correct.....
Since we're in that area there are two rectangular, rubber bumper bracket gaskets you'll want to get and REMEMBER to install when you get to that point. I see a LOT of cars about without them... My 61 was missing them when I got it... And BTW you CAN install the grill upside down - mine was when I got the car...

Thanks everyone, I will tell the painter. It was just odd that both my 61's were painted body color.
Frankie,I did have those square grommets on the car already and will put back new ones.
I and know about the grille the hard way!!

I suppose a lot can change in 8 years, but it's a lot closer than 60 years later. Here's my '59 in 1967. The black is a bit faded, but I have no reason to think it was not original.
