Some nice split windows today... black over Saddle beautiful Fuelie, 145k sale. A silver over red 14,000 mile survivor, unrestored, no sale at 190k. Seeing some things that people buy in that neighborhood, seemed like a buy. Nice white one a little while later sold around 125. Nice stuff. Tons of Corvettes there.

Another Super Snake. Makes $2,000,000 seem like pocket change.

Yes, very nice car. The guy sitting next to me was the buyer. It will be going into a collection.

Was the silver/red 63 a 340 HP? If so, I'm pretty sure I know the car going back to the mid 70's. The car came from the Jerome Shinkay collection.

This goes to show how important proper storage is. I saw the car and it looks nothing like this now. It's still a pretty nice car. Would love to see more pics of it if you have any.

I do have several more pic's of the car and engine but they're in a great big box of a few thousand pic's. If I get time, I'll try to dig them out.

Yes, proper storage would have been critical. Sad that so much had aged on the engine.

By the way, did you notice that the steering gear box is coated in black, and the by-pass hose & fitting are coated in orange, just like they're supposed to be. And no yellow stripes on the steering gear.

It's been 40 years since you drove it, Michael, I think it held up pretty well, considering GM wasn't concerned with preventing long-term corrosion. Your pics ought to be in the JG, maybe you should suggest that...

LOL, yes, I tried sending pic's and proof on a lot of items several decades ago but that wasn't working very well.

You're right. Unless a car is stored in a small space with a dehumidifier, things will rust and corrode.

Maybe if the car had been driven just a little more regularly, it would have aged more gracefully. Here's pictures of my "unrestored" but "proactively maintained" '65 today (note steering box and bypass hose coatings)

^^ The fact that the car was not driven has little to do with the way it has aged. It was stored in an uncontrolled environment on bare concrete floors for decades. Not ideal conditions but it is what it is.

If you have never lived in the Midwest or the Northeast, you simply don't understand how metal deteriorates unless care is taken to prevent it. You cannot park a car in a clean, dry garage and hold the rust/corrosion at bay. The temperature changes and high humidity will degrade any car here.

Same problem with the Gulf Coast. High humidity and cold fronts destroys so many there too, even in garages.
