Default Quarter Panel Question

I had to remove the passenger side rear splash shield as the bond was partially broken and made some repairs to this lower quarter on my 64 coupe. The natural curve of the passenger quarter seems to indicate the lower edge of the quarter panel should be outside the the number four body mount. The drivers side quarter was replaced by a previous owner. The drivers side quarter lower edge is about 3/4-1 inch inside the number four body mount. Which installation alignment of the splash shield is correct? Photos below might help explain what I am asking about. I have a feeling the drivers side is incorrect.

I’m putting the rear of my ‘64 coupe on jack stands in about an hour to strip the rear suspension. I’ll take a couple pictures for you.

I would suspect the driver side as somewhat incorrect. It could be something as simple as the lower roll-under on the driver side extends a bit further under than the pass side and should have been trimmed a little more. Or it could have been installed incorrectly. I would measure from the side of the fiberglass bump out for the mount - horizontally over to the inside of the fender on both sides and see how the dimensions compare.

Both of mine are the same, they wrap under about an inch. My wheel wells are trimmed and the flares roughly bonded on, but not yet trimmed and finished (if you wonder what you are seeing in the pictures below). If it matters, mine is an AO Smith body.

Dan, I did as you suggested and measured 6 1/8 inches on the passenger side and 6 inches on the drivers side so the panel relationship from side to side looks OK. Judging from Factoids photos it appears I trimmed off my passenger quarter repair a little to much. It is a lot better than it was and since it is out of sight I'm leaving it alone and will bond the splash shield following the natural rest of the quarter. In asking my question I was concerned about the chassis being able to clear the body mount/ frame when it comes body drop time. Thanks for taking the time to help me.

Factoid thank you for posting the photos. I have a St Louis body. In asking my question I was concerned about the chassis being able to clear the #4 body mount when it comes time to body drop. Your photos help ease my mind about that concern but I will need to be mindful of this area. I will bond the rear splash shield following the natural rest of the quarter panel. I will have to remove the drivers quarter in the future as it was replaced incorrectly, the contour of the front dog leg on drivers quarter is 7/16 inch lower than the door contour. I discovered this when I replaced the missing rocker brackets and then could not install the rocker moulding. Guess that maybe one reason the car had side exhausts.

Sorry for the delay in responding. After I started this thread I decided to refresh the already restored half shafts while I waited for forum members to respond. The half shafts are another surprise alligator in the swamp. Translation-Bubba restored them. Strong possibility it was the same Bubba that installed the clutch throw out bearing backwards. I found half of the U-joint retaining rings were not seated and could not be seated. The good news is that Bubba only missed hitting half of the ring lands when he pounded out the U-joints. So I have been massaging the shafts trying to avoid a $400+ expenditure on either half shafts or a boom maker. It is a good thing I don't own a boom maker or I might do something stupid, and it might not be done on me.
Thanks for taking the time to help me.

Yeah - I have not had the pleasure of working on or owning a no-hit, virgin Corvette body, but in my world 1/8" difference, side to side, is close tolerance on a 50 year old Corvette body.
