I'm looking at buying a car with a 283 and automatic transmission. The block cast number is 3789935 and the number on the front right surface is F0706D. I believe this is a Corvette block from 1961. Can anyone help me confirm this? Thanks!

Corvette blocks have a two letter engine code. This one F0706"D" is from a 170hp 2 barrel passenger car
