Definitely a tough choice and one I also had to make. I ended up getting both and love them both. When it comes to driving the ‘67 big block is better mainly because of the four wheel disc brakes. If you get factory side exhaust that’s a bonus in my opinion.

My ‘67 L79 had a BB hood on it before restoration. Since the second owner bought it with it on in 1972, the original owner must have swapped it out. Car looked great with it. If I was the one that restored the car, I would have kept it on. I still might do it if I could find a nice reasonably priced original.

What dictated the color of the hood?

Ed

I would say the 63 SWC. Was able to pick up this numbers matching saddle tan SWC a few months ago.

Either Doc Watson’s 67 or a Black with Red Stinger 67. The Big Block C2 is the end of a era with all the glamour.

I have a '67 Big Block. But to be honest, if I had the choice between a BB and a SWC, I would flip a coin.
I consider both of them as equal 'automotive art'.

Take the 63. The 67 BB is still in production. Jerry

There is a good reason why first model year vehicles have more issues or unique parts than later or last model year of that body style. Given you are not concerned about originality, either could work. That said, I’ve never had a bigger grin while accelerating than when there was a BB under the hood. An assault on all five senses, ‘67 BB coupe all the way!

How can you do wrong.

I agree completely. A huge part of the appeal of hopping in our car and driving down the road starts when I turn the key and hear the 427 through the side pipes. Put it in 1st and pull out of the driveway, just cruising through the neighborhood. Playing with the gas pedal, feeling that torque that is nothing like my daily driver. Then, the hood..... I have been riding in this car here and there for my entire life. When I got big enough to see over the dash, it was those front fenders, and the BB hood that I recall, and what I see each time I drive the car. They just flat look cool.....

The '63 is certainly a very special car, but a BB wakes up all of your senses, and it would get my vote.
