What years for the Mopar master cylinder? Would to see a diagram, too.

The one I used was listed as being for a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner, 6.3L
CARDONE SELECT 131323M
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=1240478&jsn=8
CARDONE 101323M
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...1240478&jsn=13
I think the only difference is that the 131323M is listed as “Condition New” whereas the 102323M condition is not listed so I assume it is rebuilt.

Here is a set of schematics for an adapter plate developed by one of the forum members and posted in a thread a while back.

With a special thanks to wmf62 for posting these....

Below is a picture of the label on a Dorman MOPAR MC that works. Notice the other replacement part numbers.

What does AES stand for and do you have a part # for the master cylinder? Thanks

I think it is supposed to be ABS, as in ABS Power Brake ( abspowerbrake.com), but I could not find the MC in their online catalog.

Is there install straightforward?
Seems like a good alternative.

Speaking only for myself, that's a hideous looking contraption. It places a lot of weight on a long lever arm out away from the firewall structure.

Too, if the car is a '58 - '62 with fuel injection and the stock air cleaner is in place, there is no room for that assembly.

I think if you want power brakes on a C1, get a period correct hydro-boost system and add it to the car. Dealers installed them back in the day.

My long-ago '63 coupe came with a hydro-boost system.... unbeknownst to me. Brake pedal is, of course, at normal brake pedal height. First time I applied the brakes, I darn near put myself through the windshield.

It's a good system and I don't mean for my anecdote to be a criticism of it. In fact, I think that's a really good option for adding power brakes to a C1.

Jim, what's a hydra boost. Got any pics. I just rebuilt my complete brake system, replaced everything but I would like to add P/B. the mopar master looks best.
Thanks

A conventional PB booster sits between the brake pedal and the master cylinder and boosts the mechanical force pushing on the master cylinder piston.

A hydroboost (and I may be misspelling the name), is plumbed into the hydraulic line. It senses line pressure out of the master cylinder and then boosts the pressure seen by the wheel cylinders. Because there is hydraulic plumbing involved, installation is more involved than with a traditional PB booster but the advantage is that you can locate the booster anywhere.

A quick on-line search fails to turn up a picture of one of the old Hydroboost units. However, I have two of them and if no one else comes up with a picture, I'll snap one of one of my boosters and post it.

Here is one that I fabricated for my '59 , but decided not to use it. The hydroboost uses hydraulic pressure from the power steering system to furnish power to the master cylinder. I didn't particularly like having the extension tube, plus I did away with the power steering pump.

That must be what I'm seeing when I do an on-line search. My Diesel Dodge uses such a system since it has no perceptible/usable manifold vacuum.

The Hydr[a,o]boost system to which I'm referring develops boost from manifold vacuum. However instead of amplifying mechanical force, it amplifies hydraulic pressure directly.

That must be what the below is customized for C1's available on many sites:

There was a 1959 Corvette that was discussed in the last year or so that had dealer installed power brakes, but I do not remember anything about power steering.

I am trying to find that thread now.

Found it...

There was a 1960 Corvette that was discussed in the last year or so that had dealer installed power brakes, but I do not remember anything about power steering.

Here is the car and the details on the add on Hydrovac power brakes

Bendix Hydrovac installed by dealer on a 1960

Paperwork for that 1960 with P Brakes listed

A restored Bendix Hydrovac booster

I have the Mopar master cylinder on my C1. Fits and works very well. But, if you have converted to disc brakes and don’t want power, a master cylinder with a 7/8” bore would be a better choice.

Why are the center lines of the bores different? Is it so that top holes of Mopar M/C and vette M/C don't interfere? If I used a 1/4" adapter plate would I have add 1/4" to the M/C push rod?
Thanks for the pics of the hydra boost, have not seen one before. And I don't want one!
