"Those curious pod-like tail lamps, and that pinched grille …" I remember reading the review of a 1961 Plymouth with that verbiage ...

Verne, the second switch is for the Gear-vendors overdrive unit. The status indicators are in the repurposed idiot lamp slots in the bezel, auto/man switch in ash tray. It can't be seen in the photos but the line lock button is just under the pushbuttons. The red status light is visible.

Body design, a 3 .... Intake manifold is a 20+. It belongs on display , not hidden under a hood 90% of the time. Hard to believe engineers got bean counters to build such elaborate designs in the time period. The 62 design is to kill for. Post cars rule !

As a lot of you probably know, other loaded cars of this era (not running an upgraded later-installed overdrive) used a second dimmer switch on the floor next to the headlight dimmer switch to activate the signal seeking radio for hands-on-the-wheel safety.

My 56 Cadillac Fleetwood has that feature...a $10 option at the time.

That was the idea. But the cast iron A488 Torque Flight has no HD parts available and I wanted the part throttle downshift capability of a later 727, and doing hat would be far easier with a 440, so we used a 440, .30 over and adapted 413 valve covers and other bits. I have the 413 I was planning to use, it awaits another yet to be conceived project.

Its heavy but it goes as fast as anything that big and ugly should. Below are links to the two articles Hemmings did. The original 2008 piece , written by Danny Strohl is the result of my willingness to allow him to drive it. To date he is one of only three people including myself who has.

Strohl was young at the time, and I must have been crazy. The car hadn't even been fully sorted. I was so worried I would screw up the story by breathing down his neck that I didn't ride with him. I sent Mike LaBrecque instead and I followed behind (in a 60 Electra). I can't remember a damn thing but I remember that day as if it was this morning. These days Danny Strohl is among the most talented auto writers I read, I expect he has a bright future ahead of him.

Okay. You got the M & H's, headers, 4.11 gear now how does it the quarter? Trap speed and ET?

And I've said before, I like the car. Doesn't really matter how fast it is. Just curious.

So am I Mike. I have yet to put it on a track but based on a stopwatch average and not much else, low 12's.

That is one clean engine compartment, nicely done! Any undercarriage photos?

At the risk of admonishment for being too long a non-Corvette thread, here you are:

If you get any complaints from the Corvette community folks, tell them Tom Parsons said to stop their whining and shove it where the sun don't shine!!!
