Some more early and late 63 items.
With all the differences between early and late 63‘s there’s one thing I didn’t see too much of is the radio side trim. The red one is early 63 the dark blue one is late 63. Noticed the cut out for the driver side air duct, and The mounting screws. There are more screws in the early than the laye. The passenger side is the same configuration but they eliminated a screw in the later style.

I learn something about the 63s weekly it seems....
I've finally tracked down 3 front seat track original pinch welts I'm missing (I have one original already)...never knew they even existed a week ago...

Thanks in advance.

I have never seen a driver side panel that is cut like that, my feelings are that someone has modified that panel.

That downward-slanting, box-like snout on the left of that heater box picture near the top is made of unobtanium. I've only ever seen two of them...
Like the 63 power brake booster rubber boot - if you find one - get it..don't wait for "a deal"..

Strange. I can tell you I saw one of those on a 1 owner 63 convertible - a very “late” car that looks exactly like the one in post #6.

I think the shape of the snout changed when AC became available. There are two different heater boxes that I know of with the second one shown in post #6. This shows the better designed defroster door control assembly, the first design is a real treat to get working correctly, there is a spring that keeps upward tension on the slider and without it the doors don't operate properly.
The lower floor duct has a early, and mid year design then changed for late 63 thru 1967. Try finding info on all this in days before the internet...

. In the 80s when I had my 63 split window judged at the NCRS meet the judge was trying to deduct because I had those pinch weld pieces on my seats and he told me that they should’ve been red because I had a red interior. I argued with them because I knew my split window had never been touched till I restored it. He was wrong.

I agree - that seat pinch welt pic is from pal Rich Yanulis's survivor (red interior) 63 convertible here in Florida- you can take it to the bank...
I agree on the 63 side panels too. Somewhere (in a TSB or Noland Adam's document) I read where there were complaints that the heat wasn't getting down into the footwells and there was some mid-production changes to address it. I just can't find the document right now...

Maybe others will post because I would like to know for sure, Rich's picture shows the early design snout with a panel that's not cut like the one in your pic.
Very interesting for sure...

Rich,
What month was your convertible built?
I think my car is configured like your picture, maybe the panel was cut down around the time AC became available for duct work clearance. I will take a look at the AIM C-60 section and see if it makes reference to this side panel.
