Default '54 corvette steering wheel hub

Please see the photos. What am I missing, to secure this hub to the column? There must be some bracket that I suspect goes around the column, and then gets attached to this hub, probably through the empty hole in my photos. If you can send me a photo of a correct install, and my missing piece I would appreciate it. Thanks! Expect many more questions from me.

Look immediately to the right of the sloted-head screw visible in your second picture. See that hole in the back side of the hub? A threaded wedge should be there, a screw going into it from the dash-side of the hub. Tightening that (missing) screw into the (equally missing) wedge locks the hub onto the steering column tube.

And let me add that once you obtain the wedge and the screw (same parts used on full size Chebbys of the era), tighten the wedge only enough to prevent the hub from moving or rotating when you actuate the turn signal lever. Too tight and the hub will change shape and if it does that your turn signal cancel mechanism won't work properly.

Yep. Same part used on 53-54 pass cars and mid 50s pickups.
On my 56, I replaced the screw with an Allen head screw-----------------makes it MUCH easier to get an Allen wrench in there to tighten the screw.

Ah, yes. Thanks, Tom. I've done that to mine also but forgot to mention it.
