2021 C2 of the Year Finalist - Modified

Default Restomod Tilt Out Hood

Has anyone been able to tilt the hood on a C2 out over the nose not into the engine bay like stock? I've tried several designs and keep having the hood edge hit the nose and barely go over the nose. Any help or pics would be appreciated.. I'm missing something on the mechanics of the hinge to clear everything. Thanks

I did it a few years ago on one of my cars.

You could look at early C1 hoods and hinges for ideas.

I have done it to my hood, needed to grind out a little radius under the hood frame where it contacts the center raised section on the headlight panel.

What is the practical application for doing this hood modification?

Mike so you can run the air intake or turbo tubing over the radiator.

look back on posts for 1CoolC2. The air intake was maintained as from a factory car rather than the bent tube, hot air intake under the hood.

Took me all weekend to find them, but these are pics of Jeff Cleary's car (1coolC2) I took some years back at Carlisle prior to changing my hood. the trick was recessing the hinges into the header bar to get the correct lift.

Midyear Thank you very much. It's really appreciated. I assume the last one is upside down because of a the angle you took it?

In my case I needed the hood to clear the radiator, stock hinge locations did not work with the space frame chassis. Cold air intake OTR is a bonus.

I got them on. Everything was fabricated other than the gas struts. A lot of work but I'm happy

the way they turned out
