I need to get my car from Tucson, AZ to Bethlehem, PA. Distance is 2,057 miles. Anyone used a transport guy or company they might recommend ? Do transport companies charge by the mile ?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I would call Reliable or a dedicated Enclosed Car carrier.........JMO!

I would only guess around $1,700-$2,000 I would think the mileage is built into the flat rate that they would quote.

I think a few people on the forum have shipped cars across country, and talked about it here, before.
I entered auto shippers in the search box above and got dozens of pages in response.
Here is just one recent thread I saw in that search.

I’ve used Intercity Lines a few times and they’re amazing. Timely, courteous and pay strict attention to detail.

Will be using them again in May as I’m moving back overseas this summer and have to send my ‘66 up north for 3 years...

Good luck

A ton of good options in previous threads. Just avoid brokers like UShip. They go lowest bidder for the job and you might get Sam The Sham.

I too have used them before and couldn't be happier. I'd advise booking them ASAP. I contacted them last Oct. about a coast to coast move and was told it would be a minimum of 3 months as they were booked solid.

Three month schedule time...Wow....

I've used these guys 3 times and they even shipped two boxes of original parts for my 63 with no extra charge:

They are based out of Florida though so you'll have to see if they go where you need. Pretty much nationwide coverage is my understanding.

Thanks for the replies. I sent requests for quotes to several of the names mentioned. So far got one response from Reliable. Around $1.00 a mile. Will await response from others and if all in the same range will choose based upon deliver times. (although it's snowing hard here right now)

if the car runs, drives, is registered and insured it would be cheaper and a whole lot more fun to drive it from point A to point B.

Not sure what happened to these guys....I used them in the past and they were good. I had to move a car this January, and I saw their website is down and my emails to the last address I had came back undeliverable. Last year they were still around, but no-quoted the two jobs I asked for. Out of business???

That's what I found when I searched for contact information. Web site gone but I was planning on a phone call in the morning

I’ve done it several times and have requested quotes from several large companies with enclosed carriers. If you happen to find one that is passing through your area you may get a significant discount.

It happened to to me a few years back transporting a car from Florida to California.

Good luck!

Ed

I would agree but I live in Bethlehem, PA and I can't see to the end of my property for the snow falling hard and fast. But thanks for the reply

Yeah. Not even a consideration. I'm looking for someone reputable. Don't mind paying a fair price for good service

When my 63 was shipped from VA to new owner in AL he used Gran Turismo for shipping. When I loaded it they did a walk around inspection and made notations of condition. Then I drove the car onto the enclosed transport. They made delivery without issues to the buyer. You might check them out.
