I used a nylon rope approx 1/8" diameter and pulled from the top down to get around the top sharp corners first, that is the way it's shown on the 1963 pilot line photos if you study them. After going around both top corners the install was like text book but the important thing to mention is the rubber layed flat on the windshield. This is critical because the water will run down the glass into the rubber and leak around the glass into the car, that's different than leaking around the outside of the rubber into the car. Whichever way you rope the glass ( top first or bottom first) make sure that rubber lays flat and tight against the glass.
After you get the install so the rubber is flat and tight against the glass it needs to be sealed to the glass, last is the sealant around the channel and moulding install. There are two different types of sealant used here. The factory mentions glue for the glass/rubber gasket and the gun applied caulk for the frame.
